Poll Shows PKR Members Favors Azmin For 2nd Top

azmin ali pc in parliament 020709 02SHAH ALAM 21 September - PKR vice-president Mohd Azmin Ali has surged ahead in the number of nominations for the party's deputy president contest.

From the 78 divisions of which results were available, 43 have nominated Azmin for the post, far ahead of his nearest competitor, supreme council member Zaid Ibrahim.

Zaid has received 21 nominations, while vice-president Mustaffa Kamil Ayub comes in third with 10 nominations.


Three other prominent party leaders who have also received nominations for the deputy president's post are PKR strategist Tian Chua (3 nominations), while Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and election chief Fuziah Salleh have received with one nomination respectively.

Out the 80 divisions which concluded their AGMs last week, the results of two divisions in Sabah - Sepanggar, and Pensiangan - are not yet available.

PKR divisions have been meeting since last week and the 218 divisions are scheduled to complete their nominations on Oct 3.

Direct voting for the top PKR leadership posts will take place from Oct 31 to Nov 21. The party's national congress will be held from Nov 26 to 28.

Out of 218 divisions, 80 divisions which have concluded their annual general meeting have submitted their nominations as of last week.
