Mati dalam Lokap: Polis perlu disiplinkan anggotanya

Polis perlu mendisiplinkan anggotanya bagi mentaati dan menguatkuasakan Akta Kaedah-kaedah Lokap dan Kod Prosedur Jenayah bagi memastikan kes kematian dalam lokap yang disebabkan oleh kecuaian polis dapat dikurangkan. Setakat ini, sebanyak 141 kes kematian dalam lokap telah dilaporkan sejak tahun 2000, dengan yang terbaru melibatkan seorang belia berketurunan India, R Gunasegaran, 31 tahun yang mati di lokap Balai Polis Sentul hanya 2 jam selepas ditahan.

'Lizard King' Anson Wong pleaded guilty for smuggling 95 endangered reptiles

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) - – A Malaysian wildlife trafficker has pleaded guilty to smuggling 95 endangered boa constrictors and could face up to seven years in jail, officials said Friday.

Anson Wong, 52, nicknamed the "Lizard King" and described as one of the world's most-wanted smugglers of wild animals, was arrested at the airport last week after he tried to smuggle the live snakes to neighbouring Indonesia.

It's not a gay church, It is a church for everyone

Reverend Ouyang Wen Feng has denied reports that he is heading a 'gay church', calling the label “inaccurate and misleading”.

“Some people have mistaken the church for a 'gay church' partly because we proclaim publicly that homosexuality is not a sin or a form of mental illness, and we welcome and affirm homosexuals, just like heterosexuals,” said the reverend.

He was responding to a PAS Youth (Wilayah Persekutuan) press statement yesterday criticising him over a Sept 2 news report in Malaysiakini.

“I want to clarify publicly and officially that the church (I co-founded) is not a gay church, It is a church for everyone, regardless of one's class status, gender identity, race and ethnicity, or sexual orientation,” he said.
